Ben raced GEORGIA to Hanalei in the 2000 Singlehanded TransPac, and he and Lucie Mewes actively raced her in the Singlehanded Sailing Society of the SF Bay Area until sailing to Mexico November 2013. Now loaded with everything that makes her home, she still moves "nicely" in "her" conditions. Her hard chine design allows her to reach.
Until last October, they raced their 30' hard chined plywood Black Soo MIRAGE, also a Van de Stadt design. For their honeymoon, they raced MIRAGE doublehanded in the 2004 Pacific Cup from San Francisco to Hanalei.
Separately and together Ben and Lucie raced both MIRAGE and GEORGIA in the San Franciso classic Three Bridge Fiasco (350 singlehanded and doublehanded sailors crisscrossing 3 marks in the Bay in any direction).
Ben and Lucie crewed in the 2014 BBR on singlehanding friend Rob Macfarlane's NM 45 TIGER BEETLE.
